Who ARE These People?
If you are reading this on Christmas Day or there-abouts, you could be escaping the fa-la-la-la for just a moment of peace……..with your computer. Checking emails to see if your friends are thinking of you, too, today. Feeling a bit frantic to get back to your own life?
Remember this, when you do get back to your own life and things seem to be gettting you kinda cranky.
Holidays bring us together for several reasons. One, is about hope. That THIS year, things will be different. That we will be able to get along for at least 36 straight hours. Ram Dass, a philospher and therapist used to say, “When you think you have become a highly evolved soul……just go spend 3 days with your family of origin…….and see what you think, then.” Way to go Ram. Thanks for that reminder.
Actually, it’s a great practice. What if we could see the holidays as an opportunity to grow exponentially? The buttons that get pressed—they are our greatest gifts. Those buttons blow away a new sweater or techy gadget or rose-scented candle any day. What if we could view those moments with an “AH-HA” rather than a “Here we go again.”??
Those people who make us aware of every ticking minute are showing us the areas in our lives that still need attention. They are the things that reside at our core and drive us to do and say things both postive and negative, but mostly on automatic, the rest of the year. Seeing the source can set us on a new course. And, it can also reaffirm all the reasons we have to be grateful. It can also confirm within us a commitment to our own passion, purpose, and sense of prosperity. And, it serves as a wake-up call to finding peace within.
PEACE
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, no trouble, no discord, no frustration or hard work. It means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart.
May you find the blessing in every button and press on with your life in new and magnificent ways.
