What’s the Point? Screams of Consciousness?
Think, that little silver ball pinging and bouncing its way through the flashing lights of your favorite pinball machine. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Welcome to the inside of my head.
I call them random neural firings. Rapid fire, putting two and two together in order to play the bonus round.
So, I am never surprised when people comment that Screams of Consciousness seems to lack a consistent theme. It’s so random. You can never know what the next post will be about. Hmmmm. Random…just like life.
You’ve probably heard the expression, “Art imitates life.” Well, you can think of ’Screams of Consciousness’ as ”Heart experiences life.” Call me crazy, but the way I see it is this. The only consistent thing about life is its absolutely random inconsistency.
Do you ever have two days exactly the same? Me either. Does whatever you plan always work out that way? Nope, me either, again. Do you say, “What the Hell?” on some days…or “Allrighty then!” on others? Me too. Some days feel like buck shot, others….right on target, rifle fire.
So, as this great big buffet spreads out before me each day, I pull up a chair to savor whatever part of the feast gets my attention. I try to consciously(and consistently) figure out what I am enjoying and spit out the stuff that I’m not. I try to shine my own light on what I value most, what floats my boat, what or who sinks my ship.
Then I share it with you, sort of like handing off the baton in that great big relay race we are all running. You can grab hold or decide to whack me right over the head with it. Because what’s true for me may not be for you. I kinda like that idea, even though a whack over the head would not be my first choice. My mission in all of this is to create some grit, maybe that grit becomes your pearl. Finding your truth among the many possibilities. It’s okay to do that here. When you read this stuff, YOU are the only one who counts. That’s the point.
And, for me, the AH-HA’s, the UH-OH’s and YES, INDEED’s usually don’t come into my life on little cat feet. They have a kind of internal zip or zing or scream to punctuate the moment. For you, a truth realized may be characterized by a high-five, or clanging bells, or whistling “Dixie.” Goody for you—that’s the point. The delicious differences provoked by a truth that hits home.
How utterly boring would it be, if we all had the same serene and well-modulated response to every person, place or event racing through our lives? Or maybe, we would have found a cure…….for insomnia.

The only constant in my life is change and so I have learned to embrace it just as you obviously have as illustrated in your latest post. I too am very grateful for the diversity and variety of life/people and agree totally that this is what makes life so darn interesting! Thanks for your words of support.
Delighted to read that you have days like buck shot and others that are on target. I thought it was only me! The lists work great some days and I end up feeling quite productive. Other days I read a little here, nap a little there. Your scream made me feel better – like a normal person. Thanks!
