TAN-AREXIA….The Irrational Fear of Paling in Comparison
Comparing yourself:
your body, your brain, your home, your career, your yard, your children, your dog, your wrinkles, your shoe size, your skiing ability, your knowledge of wine, your ability to remember dates, to do bird calls, to hunt, to fish, to swim, to tell jokes, to spackle the walls, your hand-writing, your ability to read aloud, to “Martha Stewart” your dinner table, to spell, to speak French, to remember the score, to whistle “Dixie’, to braid your hair, to dress with flair….and on….and on…and on……..with anyone else…….
is the root of every unhappiness. Period.

THis is a great one, Peggy. So succinct and so true!
Keep up the “screams”.

SO glad to hear you say this, Peggy. Far too often women tend have the tendancy to do just what you describe and it is so self limiting.
Thanks for your heartfelt sharing.
We all struggle with the notion, that compared to others, we might not be ENOUGH. Imagine if we each were…ENOUGH?
Your post today hits home. All forms of external validation are a lost cause. It really does begin inside. Glad you are putting that incomparable mind of yours to good use.
Keep it up!!!
